House League

Our popular adult mixed house league is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

  • Monday - Intermediate/advanced players

  • Wednesday - Beginner/intermediate players

Matches start at 6:30, 7:50 and 9:10 p.m. (each match is 1 hour and 20 mins).

Leagues run from the middle of May until the end of September. The start dates for the 2023 season will be posted shortly.

House league registration is an additional $15.00 per player on top of membership fees. Please indicate on the membership registration form whether you plan to play on Mondays or Wednesdays. The $15 house league fee will be paid at checkout, along with the year's membership fee payment.

House league registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and spots are limited.

Once registration is complete, the teams will be established. Both Monday and Wednesday nights have 6 teams with 8-9 people per team. You will receive an email confirming your placement in the league at the beginning of May.

Those members registering for house league as a substitute will not be charged the $15 house league fee.

House League Rules and Procedures

TEAM CAPTAINS

Each team will have a captain whose role is to:

  • Set matches on each court, together with the other captain, in order to make the three best matches possible each week.
  • Make sure scores are recorded in the black binder in the club house for all three courts after the matches are finished.
  • Be a resource for teammates who are having difficulty finding a substitute.
  • Keep in touch with their team and help ensure that everyone has fun.

PLAYERS

For a successful house league season, each team must have six available players. It is therefore your responsibility to do the following:

  • Be on time.
  • Find your own replacement and notify your captain, if you are unable to attend a scheduled match.
(To find a replacement, you can use the spare list for your team, spares from other teams, and the people noted as substitutes at the bottom of the team list.)

SCORING

  • Each court will play sets up to six games.
  • Warm up time should not exceed 10 minutes.
  • At a 6-6 set match, a 7 point tiebreaker is played, to be won by two points.
  • At the third deuce, a sudden death is played in the deuce court.
  • After two sets, if time permits, continue to play and keep score.
  • The match must finish 5 minutes prior to the next match time.

If a game is in progress upon the 5-minute countdown, the game must be completed with a “Sudden Death Deuce.”

RECORDING

  • Scores should be recorded in the house league scoring book in the clubhouse.
  • Results are recorded each week, the total number of games played by each team, and the number of games won by each team.
  • Standings from week-to-week will be determined by dividing the total team games won by the total team games played.
  • The team with the highest percentage of games won will be ranked first, and so on.
  • Any partial sets will contribute to the overall games played.
  • Monday and Wednesday team standings will be posted regularly on the ACTC website.
  • In the event of default (NO-SHOW), the defaulting team will be deemed to have lost the MATCH(ES) by a SCORE OF 0-6, 0-6 and those scores will be recorded.

RAIN DATES

Since the 17+ week schedule extends into September, there won’t be time to reschedule rained-out matches for later in the season. However, the percentage scoring approach described above will mean that rained out games will not make a significant difference to a team’s overall percentage of games won.

PLAYOFFS

The objective is to have a two-week playoff after the regular schedule as a finale to the house league season, weather permitting. More details on the playoff schedule will be provided closer to that time.
