Open House - Pan Am Event 2015

It was an outstanding day for pickleball in Aurora on Saturday, July 25th. Our Pan Am Pickleball event was a roaring success. This was the day we dedicated our pickleball program and tennis demonstration to support the Hillary House Pan Am - Tennis in Canada exhibit. Hillary House was were the Aurora Community Tennis Club was first launched back in the 1930's.

We had 36 pickleball players playing on 4 courts and we utilized one tennis court for training on shots and strategy. We had 9 new members join our ACTC Pickleball Program and that puts us at a total of 53 Pickleball Program members. In addition to our pickleball players we had about 15 ACTC members and community (public) members drop in to our event and enjoy our hospitality.

Our Pickleball Committee led by Annette, John, Bill, Brent & Doug had the whole day organized, including the weather to everyone's satisfaction. You can visit this page and see a collection of pictures of the day's activities.

Our tents gave us shade while we enjoyed a great lunch of burgers, hot dogs and sausages accompanied by an assortment of side dishes. As the pickleball play was winding down, we saw a great demonstration of tennis put on by 4 young ladies who are high performance players in the 14 & under and 18 & under categories. Andres Marco, an ACTC member and international coach for high performance players organized this part of the program.

You can see a slide presentation of the Pan Am day activities below. Annette Gagne and John Seaman organized all the pickleball courts and instructors. They were supported by a team of volunteers.

Annette and John and the rest of the Pickleball Committee extends their thanks and appreciation for all the volunteer support on and off the courts. Without volunteers our day just wouldn't be the success it was. Here is a list of volunteers that helped out with our Pan Am Pickleball event.
